ROOT CANAL THERAPY
EndodonticsRoot Canal Therapy
Root Canal Treatment or Endodontics, is the dental procedure to treat infection at the centre of a tooth (the root canal system).
The infections are caused by bacteria that live in the mouth which have invaded the tooth either when a tooth has decayed, a filling has leaked or a tooth has been damaged by trauma or a fall.
In root canal treatment, once the bacteria are removed, the root canal is filled and the tooth sealed with a filling or a crown. In most cases, any inflamed tissues at the end of the tooth will heal naturally.
The alternative to root treating a tooth is to have the tooth removed.
